Is this overactive thyroid?

I'm having problems with always being too hot. As if I'm standing next to a roaring coal fire. Upper body only, feel first my face get hot then my head and my back, like leaning on a hot radiator. Not a sweaty kind of hot flush but more a dry intense burn.

Also having probs with my eyes, really dry and sometimes blurred vision.

Might be something other than thyroid but do these symptoms sound familiar to you in here?

I am assuming you have been diagnosed with hypothyroidism as you joined in 2016 but you haven't given any history in your personal Profile.

Are you hypo? Are you taking levothyroxine? What dose? When diagnosed?

First you have to get a new blood test for a Full Thyroid Function Test. The appointment has to be at the very earliest possible, fasting although you can drink water. If you are taking thyroid hormones you have to leave about 24 hours between your dose of levo and the test and take afterwards.

Also ask GP to test B12, Vit D, iron, ferritin and folate as we can be deficient which also cause problems.

Get a print-out of your results with the ranges and put on a new Post.

Thanks shaws. I haven't been diagnosed yet and might not have a thyroid problem at all, I just wanted more info. The nurse took bloods at 8am this morning but said the gp had only asked for TSH. I already have Addisons disease and I know my consultant has been testing my thyroid frequently. but not anything else. So that makes me wonder what is going on.

Sorry - all the other things you mention will be fine as I either take high dose supplements or have been tested recently. TY!

I felt too hot for years despite being hypothyroid.... I never wore coats, couldnt stand being indoors and avoided meeting groups of people because i was always too hot. My body temps werent raised, but i felt hot, sort of flushed cheeks, boiling round my neck.

I bought a blood sugar monitor and stated testing. Some foods sent my bs up to around 27 and this is when i felt hot..... I was diagnosed as diabetic, but the metformin did nothing apart from make me feel awful.

What helped for me was taking a course of pro biotics.( VSL 3) and avoiding statchy carbs. I'm fine with sugar but not with starch....

And i havem't overheated for at least a year. And i am not diabetic.... Or at least, my blood sugar levels are stable.

Xx

I eat low carb Paleo-ish though, hardly ever eat starchy carbs, so don't think it's that for me. Good that you got sorted though!
