What do u mean by thyroid surgery?

Surgery may be required in some cases where the thyroid is overactive (i.e. the person has hyperthyroidism).

In the case of people with hypothyroidism i.e. underactive thyroid, surgery is rarely done.

The things that might make surgery necessary is things like being very overactive, or having a huge goitre that restricts breathing, or having suspicious nodules. There may be other reasons but I don't know them all.

are you hypo?anyway dont stress a lot.Ufcourse we can get pregnant as long as we are treated well.

the doctor at the hospital told me that manageable thyroid problems will not cause any problems. We are just gonna need more thyroxine and more check ups during the pregnancy

I wasn't diagnosed hypo thyroid until 1996 and had 3 miscarriages because I wasn't treated. Untreated hypothyroidism raises your chances of miscarriage, so I'd make sure your levels have stabilised before risking a pregnancy. Once your on the right level of meds, then there's no reason (based on thyroid only) that you shouldn't become pregnant. Good luck.
