High iron
Do you mean you have a blood test result that shows Ferritin over the range?
I'm interested to know about this too, because a recent blood test showed my ferritin as slightly over range. Which was a surprise as I'm not supplementing iron or eating iron-rich food.
The wiki article on iron overload en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iron_... says elevated serum ferritin can be caused by other medical conditions unrelated to iron levels including infection, inflammation, fever, liver disease, kidney disease, and cancer.
Waiting to see what my next test result shows before worrying that it's anything serious
Fion,
Haemochromatosis (iron overload) is a build up of iron over years. Treatment is phlebotomy (blood donation) to reduce the amount of iron in the blood.
Hi fion I also have high ferritin results since May of last year and I haven't been supplementing either , am going to ask gp for further investigation at next appointment due on 9th feb, if I find anything that helps will post on here.
