Okay went to the hospital last night and found out that I had a mild heart attack last night......They did a complete work up on me and found so many things wrong that I am just distraught. I was trying to help myself by being good to my body not eating fried foods. Not eating to much sugar. All to no avail. I have too many things wrong more than just the thyroid now. I hate this. My twelve year old is having a hard time copeing with the fact that mommy is sick. I don't know how to protect her from all of this. HIV, heart attack, thyroid, no appetite, no sex drive. Omg What next????

Went to the hospital.
I'm so sorry to hear this. All I can say is that the more you know is wrong the more you can hope to fix or improve. Do you have someone to help w your daughter? Do you want to share some of the findings or do you just want to say how you're feeling?
Looking after yourself never hurts, you give yourself a better chance to heal, it's like money in the bank, you improve your general health so you are better at dealing with what comes at you.
I have three friends who are hiv+ and v healthy. One was diagnosed maybe 15/20yrs ago and is still very well. There has never been a better time to get this dx if that makes sense. But I'm sure it is still a worry.
Well the finding re as follows....The stuff that was highlighted on the test were BUN 6-L, calcium 8.2-L, MCHC 32.7-L, MVP 11.4-H, and there is cerebellar atrophy oh and troponin I 0.02, .07 and 0.5 range. What is all of this and what does it mean.
When are you seeing a doctor to discuss results? If I'm reading correctly (and I'm not a doctor) it looks like a number of these results are a bit low - ?
Cerebellar atrophy can be normal age-related deterioration as the maximum mass occurs at age 25 (this is Wiki info btw) so perhaps that sounds scarier than it is.
Well I go see my PCP tomorrow at 3. I found out what the other stuff is and it looks like my blood cells are too big and my iron is low and my calcium is low. But yes I am not a doctor neither.....Hope the wonder ful doctor can tell me something good tomorrow. Thank you for letting me vent.
No worries, it's one of the many things this forum is good for. Good luck to you tomorrow.
Thank you.
The atrophy could be caused by LOW B12 ....

Go 4 minutes in on the above video to hear the information about B12 ...
Yes thank you. I am going to the doctor tomorrow and ask about getting a dose of b12 maybe in shot form or low dose of an oral pill.
Your GP needs to follow the protocol for neurological damage as laid down in the Guidelines for Folate and B12 Deficiency. This will involve B12 jabs every other day for a few weeks then weekly I believe. First have the B12 tested to see where you are in the range. Maybe further investigations are needed if very low ..... I do hope you managed to look at the video I posted for you as it shows how the brain shrinks in people with Low B12 and didn't in those that were taking B12 and a B complex.

There are B12 lozenges that work under the tongue - but first you need to know your level.
Wow I didn't know that being deficient in B vitamin affected so much. I will definitely talk to him about that.
Thank you.
Hope he is one of the few that knows his stuff about B12. Pop across to the Pernicous Anaemia Forum here on HU and have a read - it is heart breaking how little B12 deficiency is undetstood. I wish you well.
Thank you. I asked the doctor and he gave me the prescription for b and d vitamins.
Often the dose of D3 is not sufficient to raise your levels - what dose was prescribed ? Also which B12 ? - and how much ? Were you tested for both ? - also Folate. B12 works with Folate in the body. Your dosages will be according to your results ....
We he prescribed b12 and vitamin d and that's it. He wants me to get another blood test for the thyroid again. This time he will be testing more specifically. I am so glad that he listened to me. I still would not have been right without the IV that night. I felt so weird. Now I feel half way back to okay.
The bloods cells are more than likely because you are anaemic so most of your problems are blood related so may be easier to sort than you think. It won't improve overnight but hopeful on the correct medication you will soon feel improvements. I suspect your thyroid results are on the low side as well
Hope you are soon on the mend.
