Advice when asking GP to test for Hypothyroidism

I have been advised to get a GP appointment and ask to be tested for Hypothyroidism. Any advice as to how to ask and for what specific tests? New to all of this, but now realise how many of my symptoms fit with under active thyroid.

Tell him you've not been feeling well for sometime and someone mentioned that you may have a dysfunction of your thyroid gland and to ask doctor to test, T4, T3, Free T3 and Free T4 and thyroid antibodies, to exclude it. You have a list of clinical symptoms and show him the list.

Thank you. Just printed off the list. I have an appointment on Monday afternoon.

If he suggests a blood test make sure it is the earliest possible time and fasting. :)

He may want you to have the test then so can't do anything about the time but may be starve. Don't know how others would feel about that.

Just been given the go ahead for a fasting blood test in a weeks time. they are testing for Renal Profile, LFT, Bone Profile, TFT, Fasting Glucose, FBC, ESR, CRP and Vit D. Hoping this will give enough information to move forward.
