Gary1610,

Text is too small for me to read. Perhaps you could rescan the image or type the results and ranges manually.

TSH 16.71 (0.27 - 4.20)

FT4 14.06 (12 - 22)

FT3 4.61 (3.1 - 6.8)

Your TSH is very high considering your FT3, which is not very much under mid-range.

Your antibodies are also very high, so you have Hashi's.

So is my FT3 and FT4 normal

There's no such thing as 'normal'. They are in range, but rather low in range. Whether or not they are high enough for you, only you can tell. We're all different, and all need different levels. What is 'normal' for me, probably would be awful for you!

So what is Hash's just means I have underactive thyroid

No, Hashi's means that the antibodies are slowly destroying your thyroid gland, so you will become more and more hypo, until your gland is finally destroyed.

There's no cure for Hashi's, but there are things you can try to lower your antibody levels :

a) 100% gluten-free diet. This doesn't work for everybody, but some people find it very beneficial.

b) 200 mcg selenium daily. This has been shown to reduce antibodies.

c) getting your TSH down to zero. The less gland activity there is, the less antibody activity. But, you might have a fight on your hands with your doctor, on that one, because they are terrified of suppressed TSH. But it's what you need.

None of this will completely stop the antibodies destroying the gland, but it can greatly slow down the process. However, with a TSH that high, there has more than likely been a lot of damage done already.

Brazil nuts have to be grown in selenium rich soil to contain any selenium. Check the packet, if they have then 3 a day should be about right. If it doesn't say that they're grown in selenium rich soil then assume they haven't and use a supplement instead. Supplementing is the only surefire way you'll know how much selenium you're getting, and with your level of antibodies you want to make sure you definitely get enough.

Gary, if you want to help yourself and try to get well then you're going to have to accept that taking some tablets is necessary.

Some supplements can be taken in liquid form. Some in powder form. Some capsules can be opened and the contents mixed with juice.

Some foods can supply certain nutrients, for example you can raise ferritin by eating liver regularly. But as I say, Brazil nuts need to be grown in selenium rich soil otherwise there will be no selenium in them.
