I am a 51 year old male that was dianosed with an over active thyroid at the age of 15. I was given a partial thyroidectomy at the age of 17 and was drug free for 15 years. I am now on 125mg of Levothyroxine daily. Over the last year or so I have began to feel unwell. Symtoms range from aching muscles, especially my legs. Sometimes not being able to move them first thing in the morning. Cramps, twitching muscles, fatigue, insomnia, trigger finger, dry skin and lately slight depression. My GP has sent me to the hospital where I've had MRI Scans, rheumatology and neurology check ups. All resulting in nothing. Not sure which way to turn!!! Some days I feel like a 70 year old man I want to be able to run 20k a week again. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

When did you have your last blood tests? Do you have a copy of the results? It sounds like you're undermedicated, but that's just a guess without seeing the results.
Have you had your vit D, vit B12, folate and ferritin tested? If not, I think getting them tested should be your next step.
pd65 Do you have any thyroid test results to share? You can get a print out from your surgery (assuming you are in the UK), it is your legal right under the Data Protection Act 1998. If you get your results, post them (with reference ranges as these are important) then members will comment.
Are you taking your Levo on an empty stomach, one hour before or two hours after food, and with water only?
Just for information, for future thyroid tests, always make sure you book the first appointment of the day, fast overnight (water only, breakfast when you get home), and leave off Levo for 24 hours. This gives the highest TSH which is essential when looking for a dose increase or to prevent a dose reduction.
The symptoms you mention can be indicative of low levels of some vitamins and minerals. All need to be optimal (not just in range) for thyroid hormone to work properly. If not already done, ask for the following to be tested:
Vit D
B12
Folate
Ferritin
and if you GP wont do them you can get them done with a fingerprick test to do at home, members can give details if you need them.
