Been taking levothyroxine for the last year, had my bloods done because feeling worse.

Now i've been put on folic acid, not sure why... only thought they gave them to mums to be or trying to conceive, just confused.

debs79 Did you have any vitamin and mineral tests? B12 and folate go together so I'm wondering if you've had both of these tests done. If your folate was low, triggering the prescribing of folic acid, maybe your B12 is as well. Ask for a print out of whatever tests were done, post them (with ranges) for members to comment.

Debs79,

We all need folate as it is synergistic with B12. If your GP prescribed folic acid your folate must have been deficient. You can ask your GP receptionist to print off a copy of your recent blood test results and ranges.
