Hi
Can anyone advise which is the best thermometer to get.
I know you cannot get mercury ones now and digital ones are not advisable when taking temp. for hypo. I purchased a Geratherm one but I find it very hard to read.
Any ideas.
Thank you.

Dr P in his book suggested a Basal thermometer for taking basal temperature. Not sure where to get one from but can find out from a friend who read my book and bought herself one.
I don't think you need a special thermometer.
A digital one (much cheaper from Superdrug than Boots) has served me very well, and is quick, accurate and to one decimal point. Take before getting out of bed, under the tongue.
I have graphed my early morning temp and a separate graph for the daytime averages (12, 3 and 6 o'clock). It has been incredibly helpful in showing a steady rise (only by half a degree, but still a rise) as my Levo dose has been increased.
I am still early on in getting the right dose, but this is a clear demonstration and it convinced my husband I was really ill. I intend taking it to my GP.
If you're not very Excell savvy, I can PM you my version, and you can put in your own measurements and dates.
Good luck.
Thank you for your reply.
I will have a look in Superdrug.
No I am not very Excel savvy, so it would be great if you can PM me your copy.
Many thanks
I bought Geratherm too, but its one which will read digital or the other way, but I do still find both difficult to read and the battery went flat in a very short space of time, even though I'm sure I made sure it was off after use.
Thank you.
