Dail Mail Article
I have read it, Cleo2467 but I'll be damned if I'll weep at yet another DM story designed to raise my blood pressure. 'Dr Max' is talking out of his @rse, as Hidden is fond of opining. Who is this jackass and how can ppl read this unutterable tosh, especially when the appalling sidebar of shame is lingering as one pages down.
At least 'Dr Max' is not your endo / GP. Another @rse we can do without. Nevermind. A man I much admire ( of reasonable size, unlike your correspondent ) told me once that eating is one of life's great pleasures and I concur. I eat reasonably healthily and rarely touch processed food or macdonalds pap. That will have to do - the rest of my struggle to forge on whilst never feeling tickety boo prevents further dieting effort. I know from other members here that there are many who try to lose weight and fail, miserably - that being the operative word. Just the idea of striving and not achieving fills me with dismay - suffering from a condition which rarely leaves us sunny side up in the first place. My weight is the bane of my life and I cannot summon the get up and go to do anything about it. As I said to my hairdresser yesterday, ' and anyway, my DH is way too indulgent with me.' Yeah, I bet you hate that, she replied. How we laughed.
I'll take wise words wherever I find them, but nothing from the DM. If the DM were a person, it would be some vile raisin eyed purse lipped office crone, gossiping and peddling lies, looking to create chaos, misery and mayhem. Just in case you're in any doubt; try a proper newspaper...I promise you'll be happier and have lower blood pressure Cleo
My thoughts about the Daily Mail entirely.
You certainly got a lot off your chest with your response
Also stock up with your thyroid hormones and come rebounding back to UK.
I wish, shaws...but I do feel better on my self medicated regime than I ever felt on levo, which made me feel death was the only relief I was going to get - it was tragic... it really was
Not to put new comers off trying that - always worth trying levo, tho' as it apparently it works for 75-80% of us
Demob fever, shaws...holidays are sooo cathartic when you work at home - the only escape is to run away and I've got my best scarpering shoes on and a tank full of petrol, a fast plane revving up at Gatwick and a fistful of euros
I have read this article too Cleo2467 and @Rapunzel and am quite honestly appalled that this claptrap rubbish has been printed in a newspaper. For starters he is making crass statements, that are actually factually incorrect. Underactive thyroid = slow metabolism. The medical professions' preoccupation with T4 and keeping everyone "in range".....and telling them they are "normal" whilst having total disregard to the importance of T3 is, in my humble oppinion, the reason why so many of us struggle with our weight. His stance is so arrogant and shows a lack of empathy and a total disregard of thousands of sufferers. As a medical person he has as much use as an ashtray on a motorbike!, !! ππππππ
Oh, of course people with hypothyroidism can lose weight - but only if they're on an optimum of thyroid hormones, not a dose to keep them very unwell and with a myriad of clinical symptoms. What did he say about symptoms - nothing I presume.
He didn't say anything about symptoms shaws - just basically that we eat too much and don't excercise enough !, grrrr
He didn't mention anything about symptoms because he doesn't know anything about hypothyroidism - just wants his name in a paper so he can cut out the piece and place it in his journal when he wants an ego trip.
I wonder if Lyn Mynott of TUK will responds if she reads it. I hope DM prints it.
I certainly think somebody should definately respond shaws . ....and that the Daily Mail should print that response too .
Wow what a response! It made me spit feathers i have to say it was the way he mention uat in such an ofhand manor that really got my goat!!
Inour dreams
