I am a female with hypothyroid/Hashimotos.I recently dropped 30lbs in 4 months by changing my diet completely. However, all of a sudden my iron level is on the low side

but my Ferritin level is 368.Can this be because of the change of diet or is it that my

Hashimotos has become worse?

Hi Sled. Sorry I don't know the answer to your question but I am really interested to know what foods you ate to be able to loose some weight? I'm struggling to loose any for over a year now even tho I've been on slimming world. All very frustrating. I hope you get your answers. 😃

I cut out all sugars, all carbs,(bread, potatoes, pasta) and no red meat.I

have eaten chicken everyday for 4 months.I have not eaten anything fried at all.I eat roasted chicken and grilled chicken.I take off all the fat off the chicken breasts after they have been cooked.I eat yogurt for breakfast or 1 egg.I eat almonds(unsalted) and walnuts for snacks.I eat

all vegetables, and some fruit.I can't eat citrus because I have a acid problem with my stomach.Once you start eating like this and se the pounds going......you won't mind eating like this. You can eat turkey

and pork.Hope this helps.Let me know.

Hi Sled. ferritin, Iron, B12, and D3 all are levels we have a hard time keeping optimal due to the condition we have. So we usually have to supplement even if we get enough from diet. Yes you find by getting rid of sugar, alcohol, gluten and dairy it is better for us definitely. Red meat also takes so long for us to digest! You need to supplement your iron and ferritin. If these are not optimal than your meds won't work properly. They should both be higher than mid range. And D3 should be higher than 80, closer to 100 for auto immune disease. I would get that and B12 tested as well. B12 should be close to 1000.

Well done on the weight loss, amazing. I too need to lose 3 stone. Just started gluten free yesterday. I'm also B12 and Iron deficient. I'm having iron and b12 infusions every two weeks staring tmrw. I live in Germany so it's not the NHS. Please get you B12 and Ferritin checked, I did and I'm having treatment tmrw.

Can I ask if you would have gluten free porridge for breakfast? Or fruit and yogurt. What do you have for lunch. Just a few ideas that might me. Thanks 👍😄👯
