ive had heartburn for 2 days now

Well you already said you are undermedicaTed, so your stomach acid is probably low. Digestaid from holland and B contains betaine hcl so you could get one from your local h & b today, but a better bet would be betaine hcl with pepsin.... Only i dont know which shops sell it, i just buy off amazon.

i have betaine hcl with pepsin and it didnt help last night, maybe after a few doses it will improve a bit

Thats not much.... Assuming they are the 500 size? Try two... If you take too many, you get a warm feeling in your stomach, apparantly. You can always neutralise it with milk.

Yeah, the ones we use contain the same sorts of amounts......

Are you only taking 1 with a meal, or 1 per day? Sometimes my hubby takes 3 with a meal.

to be honest i got them ages ago with every intention of taking 3 a day as it states on the bottle, i started and then stopped, i dug them out last night after dinner and took 1 tablet, i think today ill try 2 after lunch and see how i go

ive not suffered heartburn for ages now and it seems to be back with a vengence

mandy72 You don't take Betaine HCl after a meal, you take it during a meal and it must be a meal that contains protein.

I got up to 6-8 of the capsules when I tried it, it didn't work for me.

Just to say with regards to Betaine, if you have a stomach ulcer it is not advisable to take it. You should get any gut issues investigated, I have had H pylori and stomach ulcers. Just had Gall bladder removed last Tuesday also. It's been a long painful road but I am finally getting on top of these issues. If you have H Pylori it needs eradicating with strong antibiotics. Hopefully you don't have any of these things, but one leads to another. It's worth finding out x
