Letter to GP from endo with some blood results and recommendations.

Hello,

Just wondered if someone would cast a glance over this letter from the consultant that includes some info re: blood results. - I thought I was having my blood tested for antibodies too- but I cant see any mention of those. I will ask for a full break down of my results.

Is my Free T 4 dropping at a good , bad or average rate?

What sort of dose of the vit D should I expect and push for if it isn't enough?

Thank you

SJ

PS ignore the underlining on the letter- that was my hubby trying to be helpful!

If you can find out what your vit d results were, you can find out what the appropriate dose is here: imperialendo.com/for-doctor...

If you're very deficient you'll need a loading dose as the usual supplements won't help much.

Thank for that link. That's really helpful.

In August my level was

Vit D 29 (50.00-150.00nmol/L)

I'll obviously find out what it was at beginning Sept and then I can refer to the chart.

Thanks again.

The only reason it matters is because when you're so low it can be hard to raise the levels to where you need them. You kind of have to saturate yourself w d and after that when your levels are good you can continue to supplement at a 'normal' dose. :-)

Assume you are hyper due to Grave's. Have you had antibodies tested.

You mention in previous post, gut issues. Have you considered trying gluten free?

Best advice is to read as much as you can. Vitamin and minerals levels are very important, but standard NHS thinking, doesn't at the moment seem to recognise this.

You might ask GP to also check levels b12, folate and ferratin. These all need to at good (not just average) levels for thyroid hormones (our own or replacement ones) to work in our cells

You will see, time and time again on here lots of information and advice about importance of good levels of B12, folate, ferritin and vitamin D, leaky gut and gluten connection to autoimmune Hashimoto's & Grave's too.

Apparently Low vitamin D can apparently upset vitamin B's

Thanks SlowDragon. I thought my last blood tests included tests for antibodies- but I couldn't see any results in the consultants letter to GP, so maybe I'll find out more when I get the full breakdown. I've started on gluten free a few weeks back- but wondered if totally grain free rather than just gluten free. I'll keep reading. Hearing other people's experiences and knowledge is helping loads- thank you.
