Switch to NDT : I'm currently on 100mcg levo, if... - Thyroid UK
Switch to NDT
I switched from Levo to Naturethroid and started the next day on 1 grain which is approximately 65mg. I increased by 1/2 grain over the following 6 weeks to get to 2 grains. I did this under the guidance of my Integrative Doctor.
Start on a low dose and build up over a few weeks. If you do a direct swap the T3 may be too much for you unless you are already on T3.
I was on 75 levo and switched over directly to 1 grain thiroyd (I think they are fairly similar) split 1/2 am and pm and increased by 1/2 every other week. I was on steady 2 for over a month but been feeling very tired again lately so now taking 1.25 am and pm.
Don't worry if it appears that you ended up taking a lot more than when you were on levo (I believe 1 grain is roughly equal to 75/100 levo) because the reason you change was that the t4 wasn't giving you every thing you need. It's very useful to keep track of your body temp (get one of those ovulation ones from Amazon, or any other that measure to 1/100 c) and pulse as until you do your blood test after holding steady for a few weeks these and your symptoms will be the best way of gauging where you're at.
Tracking you body temperature on waking is the best way of checking if you are on the right dose of NDT. I'm now spot on 36.4 degrees every morning and feeling great on 2 grains.
