It took over a year to be diagnosed Hypothyroid I started on 25mg Thyroxine each subsequent blood test my FT4 is constantly going down as thyroxine is increased now on 125mg a day and still getting symptoms last FT4 was 12. Any advice desperate now I don't want to leave the house with the severe weight gain, loss of confidence.

can u post yr full results with ranges? Do you know what yr T3 is, this is the most important indicator, yr gp prob will not test for it but u can get it done in a private blood test.

And the weight can take a long time, but your identity is not how you look, it is your personality and the wisdom and kindnesses you have learned painfully over the years, if others cannot see beyond looks, that is their problem.

My T3 has never been tested but i have a few FT4

June 2008 No meds FT4 -10.9 pmol/L

June 2015 No meds FT4 - 9.2 pmol/L

July 2015 25mg Levothyroxine FT4 - 8.9 after 6 weeks on meds

Aug 2015 50Mg Levothyroxine FT4 - 8.7 after 4 Weeks

Sept 2015 75mg Levothyroxine FT4 - 10.3 after 4 weeks

Dec 2015 75mg Levothyroxine FT4 - 9.5 after 2 months

Jan 2016 100mg & 75mg Levothyroxine FT4 - 11.7 after 6 weeks

Feb 2016 100mg & 75mg Levothyroxine FT4 - 10.1 after 6 weeks

May 2016 100mg & 125mg Levothyroxine FT4 - 11.4 after 6 weeks

July 2016 125mg Levothyroxine FT4 - 12.2 after 6 weeks

Nobody can tell why after medication increased my FT4 level reduces it is as if my body compensates and refuses to process meds. I have even tried splitting my dosage as I have read this can help my GP doesn't seem to know much and my questions never get answered.

Thanks for your help and kind words of support it means alot

There are v clever people here who may know the answer to yr T4 question. But it is generally agreed here that the FT3 is the true guide to what is going on, and the NHS don't do T3 usually. You can order a test from Blue Horizon, see the Thyroid UK website for links, and then post yr results here with ranges to get highly informed comment. Maybe your dose of levo is still not high enough, especially if your TSH is above 1.

Your FT3 should be in the top quadrant, if it isn't you maybe need to trial adding some T3 or NDT in, and if it is nice and high and you still feel ill then the first thing to look at is optimising all the nutrients you are low in. Step by step you try to solve the puzzle.
