I am 44 years old and have been diagnosed with drusen. I have done some research and don't understand it if it is macular degeneration or not. I have been referred to a specialist in Salt Lake City Eye Institute. I have lost a great deal of eyesight in my right eye and have bumps on the back of my retina.

Drusen or AMD?
Hi Kelliaz,
This is primarily a forum for thyroid patients so I doubt you'll get much help with Drusen and AMD. There are a few posts on HealthUnlocked in this link which may help you healthunlocked.com/search/d...
Hi Kelliaz
There is a Macular Society on here, so if you check that out there should be lots of help available. Drusen, though, are the build-up of the detritus that causes your vision to be blocked, so it would seem that you may well have AMD. I have this, thankfully at a very early stage, so I'm not really in a position to give much help or information re my experiences. Pop over to the Macular Society community where there will be lots of support for you.

I would try and chase up your appointment asap, or if you're really concerned, so wait go to emergency.
Did they say why its only in one eye??? Which eye analyzes??? Don't each one do a separate role I think I watched a documentary years back about how each eye works in connection to neurological processes eg gathering and understanding information. Have you noticed any change in that area or just vision.??
