I was taking 50 mcg Levothryroxine & then increased to .75 mcg. Doing great finally not tired anymore. No more naps. Then on the 5-6 weeks started losing hair. So Dr. switched me to 50 mcg. Synthroid. Been on it about 2 weeks now & am getting tired again. Anyone expirence this with the brand synthroid?

Why did the the doctor drop your dose? Synthroid is just the brand name of levothyroxine produced by one drug company. It is the same strength so your dose has been dropped by a third, therefore you are under medicated and your symptoms have come back.

I agree. In my opinion, you are now under medicated; symptoms return.

I just want to cry. Called the doctor again. I was on levothyroxine .50mcg then went to 75 mcg. Hair started falling out. Got changed to Synthroid .50 mcg. Then symptoms of tiredness came back with a lot of irritability & starting weight gain. Now dose is increased to .75mcg Synthroid . What if hair starts falling out again. Am I just screwed? Either be not tired or lose my hair😩

A lot of people need an intermediate dose, it sounds as though 50 mcg is to low. It is possible to alternate one day 50 mcg and 75 mcg the next. Why don't you ask your doctor if this is possible? Good luck.

I think I might just go ahead & do that. I want to use of my .50mcg that I paid $30.00 for anyway. I don't think it could hurt

That can be more awkward when tablets are actual 75 microgram tablets (not a 25 plus a 50 as in the UK). Obviously not impossible while both dosages are available - but they won't be.

Also interesting to note that UK NHS cost of levothyroxine is a fraction of the USA cost.
