I have a new question concerning this blood test result I have just received. I'm feeling a bit freaked by it. Should I be worried ?

Possibly - its a test usually used to diagnose or monitor sarcoidosis - a lung disease. Do you have breathing problems, or a chronic cough?

Its only slightly above range, so if that is what it is, its probably not terribly far advanced.

A friend was diagnosed with it about 20 years ago, and his lungs were already about half gone. He can't run a marathon, but is still going strong with treatment.

My husband was diagnosed with sarcoidosis about 6 years ago by a blood test and lung biopsy, they managed to puncture his lung and I had to rush him back to hospital in the middle of the night. Apart from the fact he can no longer scuba dive, he leads a pretty normal life and is in the first ladder at our squash club. Only real problem is any kind of virus he gets, is always accompanied by a dry persistent cough that hangs around for ages.
