I went to the E.R cause I felt so strange in my head. Dizzy, off balance, very tired. Told him of how strongly thyroid disorders run in my family but he said mine was fine. Here are my results

7658,

Your TSH is over the ref range 4.20 but if that is the first abnormal result you've had your doctor may want to rule out non-thyroidal illness causing high TSH and repeat the test 2-3 months later. If TSH remains over range your family doctor should prescribe Levothyroxine.

That result is dated 2015. Do you have recent blood test results?

No I got frustrated and didn't go back. But my ph is iCal health has only gotten worse. I can't think straight at all. And sometimes I feel like I'm looking crosseyed. I have what I call episodes where my equalibrium goes wacko and makes me nauseous with a headache. My hands go numb and it feels like my heart is gonna stop. I'm sure it's just a panic attack but still scary. My son and daughter have the same things going on bUT they are both also infertile. I feel like we are trapped and Noone will let us out. I'm so tired of feeling out of wacky and the aches and pains get stronger every day. Isn't there somewhere I can order my own medication?

I don't know what it's like in the States, but your primary care doctor should normally be who you see. Here in the UK, I was hospitalized with hypertension before I knew I was hypothyroid and a doctor asked if I was hyperthyroid and felt hot. I said no, I'd been feeling cold. Later, during the chat with the doctor who discharged me, I said for a long time I'd been falling asleep at any opportunity. In the notes for my own doctor, they politely said "You might want to look into this" against my above range (i.e. above 10) TSH, but they had concentrated on the usual essential hypertension tests and drugs (wallpapering over the cracks!) and hadn't started me on treatment for my hypothyroidism.

Your hypothyroidism is likely worsening over the past year, and you're in danger of "waking up dead" -- certainly feeling like it. If you drive, you are also a great danger to others. Please see a doctor.

Have you had vitamins and minerals checked? Deficiencies are often present with thyroid problems and some symptoms which we think of as thyroid symptoms improve when the deficiencies are sorted out. Many of us have low stomach acid which means we don't absorb all the nutrients we need from our food.

Check this page on the ThyroidUK website (even if you are not in the UK).
