Hi All,

I cannot see any ranges, so I am at a loss for how to interpret these. Any info or observations would be so very helpful!

Thank you x

Rhansa,

B12 510 there is unlikely to be deficiency. PA Society recommend 1,000 is optimal. You could optimise level by supplementing 1,000mcg methylcobalamin plus a B Complex vitamin.

Folate >3 usually rules out deficiency. The B Complex vitamin will help raise folate.

Ferritin <70 is sub optimal. You can either eat more iron rich food or supplement iron with vitamin C to raise ferritin. Take iron 4 hours away from thyroid meds.

Calcium 2.25 adj. is usually within range.

Results without ranges can't be interpreted. You could see whether reception has the ranges but it is unlikely. You may have to ask your GP or contact the lab which analysed the results.

The problem is every lab using different values so without ranges you are completely guessing.

For example I've had 2 labs in my area test my B12 levels and the range is not the same. One has a max value of 663 and the other 900. Saying that on both labs ranges you would be well over half way.

The ferritin range can go up to 150, 200 or 300. Either way you want to be slightly higher than you are now to around 80.

The folate range maximum level can be just over 18 or 19 or 20. Either way you should supplement and get higher to be optimum.

I have two lab ranges for haemoglobin starting at 11.5 and 12. If you supplement iron to increase your ferritin your haemoglobin level may rise but I wouldn't worry as you aren't over 15.

None of the other values stand out as abnormal but I am only going on the lab ranges I have.

Thank you Clutter and bluebug for responding!

These levels are with me supplementing jarrows b12 Methyl 5000 daily. Can I take that to mean I should continue to supplement? xx

Rhsana,

Yes, I'd continue supplementing 5,000mcg until B12is 900-1,000 and then reduce to 1,000mcg to maintain level.
