Do you have a thyroid problem? If so please post recent blood tests for others to comment.

My GP only tests for t4 (16) & tsh(0.05)which is suppressed (Nov 2016) I am generally feeling worse, depressed tired achy & very concerned re cognitive issues. I'm now 67 & have been hypo since late 40's .waiting for private blood results.

babs - if you are wanting replies to your post then it would be best if you make a thread of your own, very few people will see this one as it's hidden in the middle of a very old thread.

Also, when you post your results, include the reference ranges so members can see whereabouts in the range your FT4 lies.

Or just wait until you've got your private test results and list them all, with ranges, for members to comment. Hopefully you've also had a test which includes Vit D, B12, Folate and Ferritin.

T3 is not something to be played around with, if you don't need it you can do yourself serious harm. Find another, safer way to lose weight.

ETA: It looks like EthanA has deleted their post saying that they had no thyroid problem and was looking to use T3 for weight loss.

I've had a private message from him asking for advice!! I sent him off with a flea in his ear!

I've written a post about it.

It could also backfire. Trying to raise metabolism beyond what your hypothalamus and adrenal glands allow, they will shut down your thyroid and you can start losing your hair for one. Athletes take T3 but I doubt they take those doses you mentioned.

If you haven't got hypothyroidism taking T3 is a really stupid act.

Whilst searching the internet for a supply of T3, I tripped across a body building/muscle mass type website and was aghast to read posts by the men discussing T3, saying their missus/wife/partner were taking it to keep slim & discussing dosage. They were doing something like one month on, one month off. Horror

Do not take T3 for weight loss. I used to be a body builder and did that for shows. It stops you building muscle unless you're on gear as well and I stressed my adrenals and thyroid so much I've been unwell ever since. The only reasons to take T3 are a) you have a depressive condition which doesn't respond to ADs or b) you are hypo and don't convert T4 to t3 well.

If you want to risk it, a body building forum is the place to ask, not here.

Not what you're looking for?
