It could be a sub-sternal goitre (suggestion from me as a non-medic).

I don't have a bump on my neck and I can swallow just fine but it hurts when I tilt my head back but it is worse in the morning and gets better throughout the day

Sub-sternal means it's hidden from view, at the top of the chest. Shows up on an X-ray. Whatever it is, best wishes!

Also I just watched a video on thyroid tomes and think it's a little lower than my thyroid now

Hard to know exactly since it could be a muscle issue, it could be inflammation or what Small Blue Thing suggested. I had a problem swallowing when I turned my head to the far right or far left. Take it easy when you swallow. You can have muscle spasms because smooth muscle is very affected by being hypothyroid.

It gets better later in the day and is worse in the morning

I wonder if it has anything to do with the sternocleidomastoid muscle.

If you have any therapy done, they can work on that muscle. Morning problems may be from having slept in a certain position.

Tt,

Welcome to our forum and sorry to hear of your throat problem.

Have you had any other symptoms? It could be an enlarged thyroid gland usually caused by a thyroid hormone imbalance and known as a goitre. Sometimes it can grow down behind the breastbone and constrict or squash the windpipe (trachea) and/or the gullet (oesophagus) because it is in a fixed bony space.

Ask your doctor for a thyroid function blood test and post results complete with ranges (numbers in brackets) for members to comment. He might refer you to an endocrinologist who usually suggest an ultra sound scan to assess what is going on.

Check with GP asap. It could be something more sinister than thyroid.
