Hypo and periods

Hi,

Does anyone else notice a huge increase in symptoms pre period? I've been monitoring for a few months and I'm a real mess about a week before. Only started levo today, pretty new to all this still.

I am not on meds,  but I feel rotten week before periods and best during periods.  I can feel just simply ill, nausea,  weak and just awful so many many ways.

Yes I do feel really quite bad pre periods too Misslissa

Am on 175g of Levo and I get cramps weeks before I am due on, AND to top it all I can get extremely heavy periods too.  Usually it is a sign of my meds need to be increased again!

I first found out my thyroid was under active when I went to doctors about heavy periods, pre menstrural headaches etc.For me since starting on Levo things have improved, still have issues but much better, so hopefully things will improve for you too.

Yes I feel really bad before too. I went to the Doctors about really heavy periods and they suggested that I have a mirena coil fitted. I advised the Doctor that I already have the mirena coil fitted and have started bleeding really heavy. Periods were all over the place .... 10 days on 12 days off etc etc. Severe cramps on one side, achy joints and lots more. All the GP wants to do is give HRT, but I have read lots on this site that says that HRT shouldn't be given unless test shows pre menopause and I have had that test and it shows that I am not!!

Hi, I have Hyper but I have noticed a huge increase in my period symptoms since I started my meds (Carbimazole and Levo) last year. I get terrible cramps, which includes a dull ache in my groin, this lasts for 2-3 days. I also feel sick and bloated the whole time. Unfortunately, my periods seem to last 6-7 days and they're every 3 weeks at the mo, apart from my last 2 which were 2 weeks apart. :( It sucks to be a woman at times!

Yes my pms is awful. Not sure if it's being hypo or the levo (125mcg) or just peri menopause. It is starting earlier in the month so lasting longer. I am bloated, breasts are very sore and tender, back ache, stomach cramps, exhaustion and low mood. Saying that, my ferritin was low and have only been on supplements for 7 weeks. Have also just started taking evening primrose capsules. I believe the ones with starflower are recommended but haven't got those yet. I am hopeful with the evening primrose oil, I've heard a lot of good reports, especially with starflower oil. Hope you find something to help, it's not a pleasant time

I get really bad PMS symptoms followed by very heavy periods. Was diagnosed hypo a year ago and still having levo increases. Yet to see if it will help these symptoms when I get on the correct dose. I take 1000mg of Evening Primrose oil. Found this does help with painful breasts
