My response here prompted by a different post but also posted here to catch as many people as possible

Gp's are requesting blood thyroid tests out the blue

Yes, that's what happeneding to us. (mother and daughter both T4 and T3  - only 10mcg - combined both stable with good bloods all in range) had request from Gps to get bloods done (they where hoping they'd come back out of range, no doubt had 'guidance from CCG' and where hoping to have ammo to cancel T3 script.

That didn't work BUT still had letters saying T3 being stopped ( for my responses click on my picture and then choose posts)

As I understand it the Thyroid works on a feed back loop.

If the body's short of T4 is sends out TSH to say common produce more.

As my Specialist ( not consulatnt, specialist top of field of endichrinology) said

"Well, TSH will be suppressed won't it, your on T3"

If your body doesn't need it 'cos its being supplied then body wont send out TSH screaming for more production - will it?! simples!

WHY DON'T MOST 'PROFESSIONALS' GET THAT?!

I think they do!!

We need to help them feel empowered to stand up for their patients. They want to sleep at night. They can't all be uncaring sh**ts. They feel their hands are tied.

I'm continuing my extensive research to challenge CCG and hopefully get policy change NOTE - This is not to get BTA to re-write 2015 statement or a paradim shift in current  'guidance' or change to Nice or.... A CCG POLICY CHANGE

follow me if you'd like to know what I find out .

I shall try and produce a pdf with salient points to help others challange also.

For those who take T3 only or add to their levo it is a very scary time. The authorities seem to be on a 'damned if you will get T3 prescribed' course of action. This is info which may be helpful.

Despite three yearly reminders the BTA or RCoP commented on his article.

NDT, safely used since 1892 and many who have been forced to buy their own have recovered their health as well. Because of it's long-standing use it's safety has been proven. Whereas levothyroxine has been recalled many times for inconsistencies.

Hi, on this topic I found my own CCG website, scoured it but can't find anything about stopping certain drugs (including T3).  I'm in West Midlands and come under Dudley CCG.   I also asked my local pharmacist if he'd heard about this & he said he had not.  Hopefully they are unaware of what's happening !

go back on CCG website

search for any and all of these, they don't make it easy to find

'traffic light drugs

'red drugs'

t3

formularly

drugs list

you should then find an A-Z list of drugs classified by colour you want Liothyronine (T3)

It should give you background on 'traffic light system'

let me know what you find out in your area.

There does seem to be some disparity between regions

not only in what they say for t3 but in how agressively its being rolled out.

Hi Juliat,  have gone back onto Dudley CCG website, searched all your suggestions plus liothyronine;  nothing at all came up.  Probably giving me false hope.

I found this page on the Dudley CCG Formulary website :

dudleyformulary.nhs.uk/form...

No mention of liothyronine, just levothyroxine.
