not much to tell - healthy senior is what I am (73 yrs) Do not have anything much going on except high blood pressure - which is in my family!  Still in my home - gardening, cutting grass etc. enjoy this.  Have many friends to call on if I need help!

Happy May Day to you. If you are healthy and well I wonder why you are on the internet on a forum for people with a dysfunction of their thyroid gland?

Have you or are you hypothyroid?

Don't be embarrassed stoonbk , there is nothing wrong with being healthy and there is no harm done from you popping in - it is just that you might not find the conversation very meaningful to your situation :)

Hi, I realise you didn't know this forum is for thyroid sufferers.  But - I'm nearly 65, and used to always have friends and managed to find new ones.  Nowadays, having moved around a fair bit, I'm without friends.  Any ideas how I can make new friends?

the library, local theatre group or local evening classes may be a good place to start.  Another one is volunteering at something like an age concern charity shop nhs.uk/Livewell/volunteerin... .

you're welcome, I hope one or other proves to be a successful venture.  I have a friend who joined the YMCA theatre group and loves it, even writes plays for them now.  And another who fills her Mondays as a volunteer in a charity shop, and Wednesdays going out with one of the other volunteers.  Our library always seem to have notices up about talks & meetings.  Have you checked out if there is a local WI thewi.org.uk/ ?

Good luck with the operation.

Another thought comes to mind, if you need exercise afterwards, rescue kennels are always on the lookout for dog walkers saveapet.co.uk/walking-dogs... so you might be able to kill 2 birds with one stone there (my theatrical friend also does this and got incredibly healthy as a result).
