My T3 is 3.5 ,range is 3.1-6.8 ,T4 19.7 range I know is top part is round 23 .4 ,Tsh 0.64 , I have been on 75 rotate 100 but had bad headaches and severe constipation  for last few weeks so had to drop back to 75,75 ,100 . Does it take time for T3 to rise as can't take T3 as just didn't agree with me ,

How are your levels of Ferritin - Folate - B12 - VitD ?  All need to be at a good level for the Levo to convert into the ACTIVE T3.  Low iron can be linked to headaches due to reduced oxygen in the blood ....

These were all fine before , only got headaches after I taken levo and tried all different brands ,was ok till I up the medicine ,I can tell I'm not converting as I should be full off energy with T3 in that range

So what were the actual results ?  Was the word 'fine' your assessment of your results or was it from the GP ?  Do you have copies of your most recent test results ?

Doctor said fine and I feel that's why I have all the headaches and constipation as T4 laying in my system and not converting to T3

I didn't mean the T4 - I was asking about the Ferritin - Folate - B12 - VitD - which you said were fine.  What were the actual results with ranges ????  Low levels of the Ferritin etc. can prevent the T4 converting into T3 ....

Sorry mean T4 in that range

T4 doesn't give you energy.

greygoose profile image
greygoose in reply toMaggiemay12

Umm... no, not exactly. Your T3 is low because you're not converting. Much too low to give you any energy.

You telll you're not converting because the FT4 is higher in range than the FT3, in their respective ranges. If you were converting well, it would be the other way round.

But you won't have any energy until T3 gets higher in range. :)

How can I raise my T3

greygoose profile image
greygoose in reply toMaggiemay12

Well, with conversion like yours, the only way I know is to take T3 - liothyronine. But you'd probably have to buy it yourself on-line because it's getting harder and harder to get it prescribed.

Tried that but have problems with T 3 ,keeps causing inflammation in my hands even on low dose ,when I stop inflammation goes away !

greygoose profile image
greygoose in reply toMaggiemay12

Could be an allergy to the fillers. The T3 itself wouldn't do that. Were you buying it yourself? Or was it prescribed?

Got it on perscription and also tried nature thyroid and I couldn't bend my thump ,had steroid injection  which helped then other hand started and was really bad ,was only only one and a half grains ,had to stop after 8 months ,doctor gave me liothyronine but same thing happened .

Well, it sounds to me like an allergic reaction. I have no idea what the fillers are in either of those brands, but you could maybe research it and see if there's something common between them.

Do you have any T3 left? Because you could try taking it again, but this time with an antihistamine, to see if that helps. If the reaction is an allergy, the antihistamine should stop the reaction.

My T3 went down when I raised my levo ,it was 0.77  5 weeks before this blood test so maybe I should have stayed longer than 4 weeks on that dose ?

greygoose profile image
greygoose in reply toMaggiemay12

No, I Don't think staying longer on the dose would have helped. When you raise the Levo, the T3 is supposed to rise. Do you have Hashi's?

Maggiemay12 in reply togreygoose

I raised the levo and few weeks after got bad headaches and sinus as looks like it's not converting and severe constipation ,have drop levo and headache are nearly away ,

See my last reply. Could also be an allergic reaction. Or, it could be due to low nutrients. You really should get them tested, as Marz suggested.

Take Vit b complex ,adrenal ,zinc ,magnesium ,

greygoose in reply toMaggiemay12

So, you've had them tested, then? What were the results? You might not be taking enough of something.

Have reduced my levo slightly and headaches gone now ,doing 75 ,75, 100 now instead off 75,100 , looks like the levo was laying in my system and causing it all ,been out walking these last few days for nearly an hour so hope it last , it's annoying that doctors I'd t know what was happening .

greygoose in reply toMaggiemay12

Well, that's great, but you're still not addressing the main problems. You cannot go on like that forever.

Sorry don't understand what you mean by the main problem ,

Your low T3 and less than optimal conversion.

I think your t3 is way too low for you to feel well or have energy.
