Normal

Well never thought I would want to be told " you are not normal ". Instead dr rang to say your tsh is 2.9 so you are "normal" I was so surprised I just said okay. ( it was 8am so I had just stepped out of bed ) I wasn't expecting the call or I would have been prepared to ask questions. Maybe the way I feel is all in my head cos I'm "NORMAL "

If all they have measured is your TSH they have no idea if you are "normal" or not.  You could have secondary hypothyroidism, but your doctor will never know unless s/he measures, at the very least, your FT4 level too.

Go back and ask for these tests:  FT4, FT3 (you will have to insist on this and even then might have to get it done privately), thyroid antibodies, iron, ferritin, folate, Vit D and Vit B12.

Make sure you get a print out of the results, with ranges, and then come back and post them here.

What symptoms do you have?  If you have secondary hypothyroidism you may well have adrenal problems and sex hormone problems too.

Do you have gut issues?

It's my belief that the majority of endocrine patients have an underlying cause for their condition.  Usually infectious - Lyme Disease, co-infections (mycoplasma, bartonella, babesia, EBV etc), parasitic, viral, fungal, etc.

Unless or until you address these your thyroid problems will remain difficult to keep under control.

Don't forget thyroid hormone resistance shows normal thyroid labs.  Food intolerances and a bad immune system, are huge with thyroid and Hashimoto's, especially.

They are all causes, but probably not underlying ones.  They too are symptoms of something.  Question is, symptoms of what?

I am seeing a functional medicine doctor .  We are healing my immune system right now, by healing my leaky gut.  It is from years of antibiotics and food chemicals, fluoride, everything can cause you to lose your good bacteria.  I will also need to replace missing pituitary hormones like cortisol and GH, if needed, but i have to get a proper diagnosis/testing done, which is really impossible.

I stopped being a Brownstein fan, after his pushing of iodine scared me off years ago, but i will read the link anyway.

thanks

I suspect leaky gut is one common factor.  Working on that helps the body fight the infections.  Good luck.

I might be able to help you with the testing. Message me. No promises.

Do you happen to know where people are getting the injectable b12 and needles, without prescriptions?

No, I'm afraid I don't.  Sorry.  Someone else might be able to PM you.

Hi faith63 - you can get B12 ampoules from the German site of Amazon.  Easy to understand I have read !  Go over to the PAS forum to ask about syringes - which I believe come from a different company ....
