Hi all, just had my blood results from blue horizon and would be very grateful if someone could look at them. Thanks
Blood results: Hi all, just had my blood results... - Thyroid UK
Blood results
Clear as day, you are hypothyroid with an above range TSH and a below range FT4. You do not appear to have Hashimoto's with antibodies so low.
Unfortunately GPs tend, in the main, to not take any notice of private blood tests, and will only treat when TSH reaches 10. Has your GP done any thyroid tests? If so what were the results (with ranges). If not, maybe take your BH tests to show him, say you are very concerned (tell him of any symptoms of hypo you are also experiencing) and will he do the tests for you. If they come back similar to the BH ones he may give you a trial of thyroxine, or he may wish to retest at a later date and wait until your TSH reaches their magic number 10.
Eljii, do you yourself have a thyroid problem? I've seen lots of replies from you citing research but feel I know nothing about you...
Maybe write a post to introduce yourself
I don't know that you can say not medicating makes Hashimoto's develop. Lou_06 has no thyroid antibodies per her test.
Lou, there's summat up. But you already knew that cos you wouldn't have had the private bloods done otherwise!
Your thyroid is struggling. But also, your B12 is on the floor. Ever been tested for pernicious anaemia? Coeliac disease?
Hidden - most of us are aware of what you are saying about the TSH, the problem is doctors here in the UK normally won't treat until TSH reaches 10. We patients don't need convincing, it's the doctors that do and their hands are tied by the guidelines they are supposed to adhere to. The doctor that does treat a TSH under 10 is very rare and risks the wrath of the GMC.
Many do, mine does... depends on the ranges at local lab.
Very low ferritin, B12 on the floor, look at the pernicious anaemia site and Google autoimmune gastritis, which is the condition sometimes leading to PA.mMy instinct is that you have a core problem leading to thyroid malfunction. Exclude celiac via gp or with a cheap online test. Post results on pa forum too. Your thyroid is utterly out of whack, it may partly be struggling because of your main absorbtion problem.
Thanks for your replies. I've had coeliac bloods done in the past but they came back normal although I do get a lot of bloating and constipation and my health has been on a slippery slope for the last few years. I am a phlebotomist and I love my job but it's getting harder and harder due to the tiredness, aches and pains and other symptoms. I'm only 43 and my mom who's 66 said she feels younger than me. I just needed to try and get to the bottom of it.
Hi Lou_06,
Some of your problems are because you're B12 is so low. I would think your GP will retest this so it is important not to supplement until the NHS results come back.
On the other hand, he may start treatment going on BH results. You could also ask to get Vitamin D checked.
Take care
J
I already supplement vit d as my last reading was 24. I will wait and see what she says before anymore supplementation.
Thanks.
