I have made enquiries to see an end. who is very good with thyroid issues. I am going privately for this but he has said that he will not see me unless I have the Strachen adrenal test. Don't know if I spelt that right.Anyway I asked if I could do it via saliva test. I am waiting for a reply from his secretary. I don't want the Strachen test as I am very sensitive and think it will make me feel so awful. Any thoughts.

Sylvia22,
If you mean a short synacthen test to see how well your adrenal glands produce cortisol:-
There are usually no side-effects from a synacthen test apart from a small bruise which may appear at the place where the needle was inserted. Rarely, the vein used to take the blood may become swollen; this usually settles within a few days.

Thanks Clutter. It's just that I read when searching on the internet and I think someone on here once said they passed out during the test.
Sylvia22,

I haven't heard of it before but at least it appears he is checking to see how adrenal fatigued you are.
Hi Sylvia , I had this stress test years ago and it was no problem . I had a cannula where they injected took my blood pressure waited a half hour another injection then another blood pressure taken two times more .i had no effects from it so no adrenal problem so went home no side effects . I would think if some one is afraid of needles it would make them faint but with the cannula it is only the once .
