Does thyroxine warm you up ?
Hi xjjx, I can't answer your question but I know this winter has just been one battle between me and my husband. He's cold and wants the heating up and I'm blowing heat out of my ears I'm that warm. I haven't felt cold outside either. Feeling cold is one symptom of hypo I don't have, quite the reverse in fact and I'm not menopausal. I also take Levo but whether that's the reason I don't know. I suppose we're all different.
I think that as our thyroid function improves our ability to regulate temperature improves. I've been taking NDT for around 16 months. Normally, I'm cold all the time but since my health has improved on the NDT I haven't found that at all this year. I know it has been a relatively mild winter but I do think my thyroid function is better and makes me more able to cope with the cold. So perhaps your levo is improving your thyroid function well?
xjjx,
Levothyroxine improves your metabolism which regulates your temperature. Mild winter helps, of course.
It took 15 months after I was optimally medicated before I stopped feeling cold to the core.
I have been much warmer in bed this winter apart from my feet. I was full of energy in the Canaries last May but started to struggle in December.I think more T4 was needed
