sroux,

If you post your test results complete with the ranges (numbers in brackets) members will comment.

Sroux14, ferritin is optimal 70 to halfway through range, and vitD is optimal 75-100.

Agree with clutter.

Be aware that your doctor may not be telling you to take enough vit D. After my prescription of 20,000IU daily I was told to take 1,000 IU by the GP. I was told this was wrong my a MS patient and should take at least 5,000 IU to get my numbers in range as soon as possible. I went down to 2,000 IU when my numbers reached 65 and am still am on it 3 years later now with my GPs blessing. I end up getting tested twice a year though really it should be once as I've had issues with my iron levels. My figures have been about 83 for the past 2 years. I get my initial tests privately about 2 times as I have issues with my iron levels I had to change GPs as I had a male GPpartner not taking my illness seriously and lying about test results.

In the US the Ferritin range is 22 - 291 ng/mL and I guess it is a good idea to be mid range.

Just for completeness, while I have the book open:

Iron …………………………………………….. 50 - 212 micrograms/dL

Iron binding capacity, unsaturated 110 - 370 micrograms/dL

Total iron binding capacity (TIBC) 228 - 428 micrograms/dL

Transferrin % saturation …………….. 14 - 57%

So, your ferritin is a bit low (higher than mine though)

I'm not sure of the Vit D range off the top of my head but I take 2000IU per day (and it's D3)

Hope this helps.
