Hello everyone!
I have done some research about diets with thyroid disorders and found Paleo diet. Seems to be ok. Anyone tried? Any good results?
I'm on day 5 so will watch this thread with interest...
I bought the Hashimoto's Cookbook and Action Plan. It's far, far, easier then I imagined. I *think* l have more energy because I actually have the energy to make all my meals from scratch - if that makes sense
I'm not craving bread and if I want something sweet, I reach for the Medjool dates or coconut yoghurt.
Yeah, I'm feeling positive about it. I haven't weighed or measured myself but it's not about weight loss (tbh, I don't think I'll ever lose weight until gland is sorted out).
The one thing is, I think the initial outlay is expensive... coconut products for example, are expensive.
Heirloom Apple I don't even think about this as a reduction diet but I would be happy if as a side effect I will loose some weight. I desperately looking for a way to get my life energy back. I heard that paleo gives good results. I am starting this from tomorrow I bought some products allowed on this diet. I am starting with 21 days sugar detox and fingers crossed I will survive there is a lots of nice recipes. I am going to buy slow cooker as well.
we're doing it for the right reasons aren't we? :0)
You know I'm really enjoying using proper fat to cook things in. Things taste so mch better and more intense - it's weird but I think that's why I'm enjoying it so much!
Good luck! xxx
I just started today. I have problem with meals so far. I use to have completely different diet. A lots of diary products and bread so it's quite weird but I can use to this fingers crossed
Hiya, yes I have read skinny cave girl and decided to try it. Been on it 3 weeks, feel great, sleeping more 6-7 hours instead of 3-4 which has been the norm for me since diagnosed hypothyroid 9 years ago ! Unfortunately no weight loss yet, but as I feel so much better will continue. I take 100 mcg thyroxine, have steadily gained weight 15kgs since diagnosed. My husband is on diet too , and he also loves it and has lost weight. I will continue as I feel I have now made a lifestyle change. It is so easy to follow.
If 3 weeks give such a results try to imagine what will be after few months. If doctors don't care about us and treat only results not people we need to take our lives in our hands no try everything possible way to feel better. I don't expect miracles and that changing lifestyle, diet, taking supplements will make me completely healthy person but I want to feel more energetic.
Cpdw maybe you can try exercise when your energy level raise if you want to loose some weight. I heard that Mel B have nice trainings
I have increased my exercise, my husband gave me a fitbit watch for Christmas so now it's easy for me to check steps and kilometres walked each day. They also email a weekly summary . I move quite a bit more now than I used to, I have much more energy. If someone had told me I would feel so much better eating paleo, I don't think I would have believed them. Such a small change really in the grand scheme of things. I can see myself on this forever. Not said that about any diet before !
I went on auto-immune Paleo elimination diet (Chris Kresser book) in December and have been reintroducing foods in January. Have seen good health Improvements and reduction in all Hashimoto's symptons, though am also taking quite a few suppliments. Found it easy enough to stick to, once I made the decision to give up all sugar and grains the cravings seem to go and am actually enjoying eating more meat and fats.

I've been on the whalls paleo diet (which restricts carbs so much that you're in a permanent state of ketosis) for just over a year. I went on the diet largely because I thought the ketones might help my brain issues; before it occurred to me that they might be thyroid-related. I'm not really sure why I'm still on the diet other than fear of becoming more ill if I stop, since it had little effect on it's own. I've begun to wonder whether ketosis might, in some way, inhibit conversion of t4 to t3 but it's just a vague worry for now.
I have not tried it as it looks too meaty and I don't eat red meat.
Thank you agataka, I will consider that. Take care
