Sorry, title is meant to be funny and a bit sarcastic.
Seems many of the symptoms we hypothyroid humans experience which are disregarded by so many unsympathetic doctors, are recognised by Vets.

I did a google search for 'aggression and t3' to find a specific link about violent offenders I wanted to share with someone here and all the results were about dogs!
Nothing unusual - that has been said many times in the past and will probably be said many times in the future.
I listened to a youtube the other day about hypo and it was by a Veterinarian. He certainly made more sense than a lot of 'human' doctors.
I've had two hypo dogs. The vets first blame you for feeding them your biscuits - I'm overweight see, so obviously it's down to biscuits, lol!
Then they put your dog on a really expensive diet. But that doesn't work as you're still feeding your dog your biscuits but biscuit feeding without knowing you're doing it - like some kind of biscuit denial but obviously the vet has got the measure of you and your terrible lifestyle choice for both you and your poor, fat dog.
So, just to prove they're right and you're wrong (and even though your dog has the classic bald patch on their tail, weight gain and yeast infections...), and basically to shut you up; with an eye roll, they test for hypothyroidism and lo and behold, your dog is hypothyroid and then you get to leave a really smug message on their answer machine! Hehehehehehehe!
But jeez. it's another struggle to convince someone that your dog is tired, fat and ill because of their thyroid *not* because you're fat and you like to feed your animals up... gah!!!
This made me laugh..........but so true.
I have recently lost weight (I know lucky me, it is bl----- y hard).
When I was fat I took our cat for her injection and vet had a real go at me for cat being overweight. I was a bit upset as he was quite nasty and I didn't think she was.
A few weeks later my lovely THIN partner took same cat to see same vet (for paw problems). He asked if she was overweight and vet assured him she was fine! Ha Ha....we don't imagine everything!
Hope you and your dog are well.
Oh, that sucks. I have to confess but our lab is getting fatter and I think is going the same way as our other two dogs. She's a choc lab and there is currently some research going on into why choc labs seem more prone to being hypo (they're also very inbred too apparently!). I'm dreading taking her to the vets :0(
Hey! Well done with the weight loss!!! How did you do it? xxx
Thank you.
Boring reply but......wrote down everything I ate and stuck to 1200 calories a day. Bought a lovely black lab and walk every day as well as exercise DVD's (when I have time). Put 3 to 4 pounds back on over Christmas but had a lovely time. Aim to lose the last stone to put my BMI right in the middle Motivated by Breast cancer 3 years ago and taking Letrozole which I hate. Just want to be as healthy as possible for me really.
(This diet would not work for all the years I was hypothyroid by the way, whatever medics say!)
I think you're great!!!
