Momo1948, it's very difficult to read results on their side. Perhaps you could rotate the scanned results so they're easier to read next time.

TSH 3.34 indicates your thyroid is struggling but you won't get a NHS diagnosis until TSH is >4.2. If you are prescribed Levothyroxine you are undermedicated and should request a dose increase.

Ferritin is optimal 70-100. Supplement iron and take each tablet with 500mg-1,000mg vitamin C to aid absorption and minimise constipation. Take iron 4 hours away from Levothyroxine and retest 6 months after you start supplementing.

Momo1948, most people will feel well when TSH is just above or below 1.0 but symptoms may lag behind good biochemistry by a couple of months.

50mcg may be sufficient dose. Ask for thyroid levels to be tested 6-8 weeks after the dose increase.

Supplementing iron may also help with fatigue. Remember to take it away from Levothyroxine.

Momo1948, I got it :-D I'm afraid it's not a quick fix with thyroid dysfunction but the increase to 50mcg should make a positive difference in a few weeks.

Hi Clutter i now have 50 instead of 25 Levo in 6 weeks he has done blood tests for TF2 xTFT thyroid function test plus the b12 Ferritin Folate and FBC im still new to all this since Sept im understanding a lot more re PA but not with the Thyroid are the blood tests above for thyroid enough in Nov i noticed i had a lot more that was with the Endo who prescibed Levo 25. My GP doesnt really explain anything so i have to rely on this site i cant seem to rotate blood results on here they come out sideways but on phone they are right way round pretty useless

Momo1948, I like to see FT4 and FT3 in addition to TSH. Unfortunately some practices will only order TSH and if you want the additional tests you may have to order them privately.

in reply toClutter

Thank you.. ill see what Endo say might get more info off him than my GP i know its not a quickfix will take time its just knowing what the results mean

Momo1948, TSH is a pituitary hormone which responds to thyroid levels, T4 and T3. TSH will be high when T4 and T3 are low, and TSH drops when sufficient T4 and T3 are detected. Most people will feel well with TSH around 1.0 and with T4 in the upper range.

What exactly is in your calcichew vit D, what dosages of calcium and Vitamin D3 does it include, and how many a day do you take? If I google for calcichew I get lots of different strengths.

in reply tohumanbean

It says 1250mg calcium carbonate equivalent to 500mg calcium and 400iu colecalciferol equivalent to 10micrograms Vit d3 2 tablets a day i take

Do you have low calcium levels? I'm just wondering why you supplement calcium.

If you are Vitamin D deficient, then 2 x 400iU per day is unlikely to raise your levels much before the end of the decade. It would be helpful if you had test results for vitamin D including the reference range.

Taking vitamin D will raise calcium levels, even without taking supplemental calcium. It is important that calcium is deposited where you want it to go - it is needed to help bones and teeth. You don't want calcium deposited in your coronary arteries, for example. To help reduce the risk of this when taking vitamin D supplements and/or calcium supplements it is important to take vitamin K2 with it. This helps your calcium to go where it should, rather than where it shouldn't.
