Please can someone tell me what green veges are good for thyroid people. I too eat spinach a few times a week and am feeling confused?
Greens : Please can someone tell me what green... - Thyroid UK
Greens
Smaffles, a number of cruciferous veg, greens and fruits are considered to be goitrogens which can reduce thyroid function. Eating sensible portions lightly cooked isn't likely to be a problem for most people.
Everything I have read says that green veg are very good for everyone in any situation, but with an underactive thyroid you must limit the amount of RAW cabbage, cauliflower etc and have all or most of it cooked. I make my own smoothies and juices with it now and then, but make sure it is cooked first if having a lot of it.
I would say that nothing is actually 'good' for thyroid in the way of 'greens'. But just eat what agrees with you. If you feel bad after eating anything, stop eating it. If you feel fine, continue. Cooked or raw. But all things in moderation! lol Man cannot live by spinach alone!
The only exception to that is soy - but I Don't suppose you count soy as a 'green', do you. All forms of unfermented soy should be avoided like the plague!
