I'm progressing in my does of levothyroxine increase and getting modestly better but still have the issue I described in the title! What really happens with me while sleeping? Is it low oxygen? Adrenaline or cortisol??

Racing Heart Rate Wakes Me UP
Cortisol control sugar levels. If yours drop in the night then adrenalin kicks in to wake you up so you eat something.
Maybe try eating before you go to bed? Something low gi... Porridge ? A sandwich?

Edit.... Cortisol helps control levels.... Cannot edit post properly. :-(.
I've also read that eating something when you wake up in the night can help. Does anyone have any experience of this?
Kezieblue, I believe diabetics used to be advised to keep a banana by the bed and eat half to raise blood sugar levels when they were woken.

Thanks all, I hope this will go away as my medication dose stabilize.
Thank you all. I first thought that my blood sugar swings I went for GTT .. I was positive to be hypoglycemic! my blood glucose went down to 52 My doctor said this is not important as many people will be positive on this test it is an extreme case were you have to fast one day and then suddenly drink pour glucose!!
He ordered another test were I have to fast three days drinking water only, in 48 hours he thought I should not continue as my blood glucose level was stable and never went below range.
I went for a third doctor to test my sleep and he said I have sleep apnea, and with looking more carefully looks like it is central sleep apnea. It is companied with slowed heart rate (below 50 bpm) but I will wake up with a racing heat rate.
I don't know if all of this is due to hypothyroidism or not!
I went to even another doctor to check my heart, why it is slow. He ordered TSH among other tests. My TSH was 0.01 (or something around that but less than 0.1). This where I started testing for thyroid which one doctor thought I have hyper rather than hypo thyroid, even though my symptoms seem hypo.
My T4 T3 were mid range. My iodine uptake was well below range. Which convinced the doctor I'm hypo not hyper thyroid.
Now I reached 150 mcg of levothyroxine since 3 weeks, only modest improvement is seen so far!
I'm not sure if I have something else undiagnosed!! I don't think so! but why I'm not feeling well till now.
My husband complaints about waking up with heart racing and was told he has sleep apnea. He is healthy, no other health problems at all. From what he understands, it's due to lack of oxygen. He went to a sleep clinic which gave him a little monitor to attach to himself during the night. He has been found not to suffer from too bad an apnea, so no treatment!
Good for him not to need treatment. I tried to use CPAP but it didn't help as it is a central sleep apnea and not obstructive. In my case, I cannot go back to sleep and I will feel tired the rest of the day. This disturbing my life.
Is this a hypo-thyroid related?
