Hi GreyGoose,

You have a great knowledge of Vitamins and Minerals. I would like to know what supplements would support someone with my health issues.

Are you aware of anywhere that carries out testing for deficiencies in either Vits,

Minerals or both.

Many thanks

Hi Jose,

I Don't know as much as all that! Not as much as I'd like to.

But, I'm not going to give you a long list of suppléments to take, these things should be built up slowly, one at a time.

Firstly, are you still supplementing your B12? And the vit D? How much? Have you been tested for iron/ferritin? Are you taking anything else?

We have to start with basics, and add one thing at a time. If it's prescribed by the NHS, they will never give you enough to be well because they Don't understand the importance. It's very possible that the odd B12 shot you're having from time to time, just isn't enough for you. :(

Hi GreyGoose,

I haven't started taking vit D as my result from Aug read 80. mmol/L. >50 mmol/L Sufficient.

Here are results taken Oct '15

Magnesium serum. 0.88 mmol/L. (0.7 - 1)

Folate serum. 13.3. ug/L (4.6 - 18.7)

Ferritin serum. 97.7. ug/L. (13 - 300)

I have supplemented with Milk Thistle and Folic acid for many years but stopped taking F acid when I read on this forum that it is synthetic.

I will put the question re private testing for Vits & Mins in a post as I would like to know what , if anything, I'm deficient in before supplementing.

Many thanks

Well, the magnesium test is unreliable. So, forget that. Your vit D could do with being higher, just take a low dose throughout the winter, I should think. But if you're taking vit D3, best to add in a little magnesium, a little zinc, and some vit K2. :)

Cheers,

I'll look into that. 👍

OK. And, I forgot to say, Don't start taking them all at once. Leave a couple of weeks between introducing each one. :)

As GG said there is not a list of supplements that would work for all of us. I have had to think and try and fail and try again.

I had to go back all the way back and fix my diet and start adding probiotics one strain at the time and then vitamins. And now I feel I am getting somewhere, slowly but oh well does not matter.

Not what you're looking for?
