I don't know what GCA stands for but in general any other medications should be taken apart from levothyroxine. I usually leave 4 hours. Some might leave 2 hours but I know for sure iron has to have 4 hours gap.

Hi again. Olive

What dose of levothyroxine have you been given. Usually a starting dose is 50mcg with a 25mcg increments around every six weeks till your clinical symptoms have eased

GCA stands for Giant cell arteritis very closely related to PMR Polymyalgia Rheumatica steroids have to be taken first thing so a bit of rock and hard place . Started on 25mcg bloods due Dec4 see doc Dec7 like to have as much knowledge before then as I can

In that case you can take levo at bedtime, as long as you've last eaten two hours previously. Our stomachs have to be empty for levo and if you do take it at bedtime you don't need to worry about leaving a gap afterwards.

When blood test is due for hypo have it at the earliest and fast and miss your previous evening's dose. You can take it next day after test as long as stomach empty and leave about 1 hour afterwards and also take the evening dose as usual. Or you can just take it in the evening as as levo has a long half-life of 6 to 7 days.

Hi Olive

I also take 150 levothyroxine and Preds due to PMR at present on 12 mg

As levo has to be taken on a empty stomach I take it when I wake up in the night to spend a penny .Take a glass of water to bed with me and put levo out before going to bed .

I then cam take preds when getting up and having breakfast.

I found this works well for me.

Pharmacy told me I need to allow at least 1 hour between both meds.

Regards Rose

Thanks for advice lady's looks as if middle of night will be my time forgot to say it's statins before bed

Statins are not recommended for hypos - not recommended for anyone, really. If your cholesterol is high it's due to your hypo, and will reduce as your T3 level rises.
