Hi mandy72🌷

I'm new at this. Sorry you feel like death. I'm scratching myself to death and I'm so stiff. I'm seeing the dr soon. I think I'm over medicated on NDT -Erfa. Been on it a month. Just got diagnosed with hypothyroidism a month ago

Are you not in the UK?

Just wondering how you got NDT from your doc if you are in the UK.

I felt worse when I first started medicating and was also very itchy. I'm on levo

Hello Sddixy

I'm from Canada and my doctor agreed to NDT It's prepared at a special pharmacy "Script Pharmacy". Doctors are somewhat reluctant to go NDT but there are open minded doctors who believe solely in NDT

The scratching is driving me crazy. I'll be seeing my doctor soon

Thanks for responding

Mandy, Hypothyroidism is managed, not cured. When it is well managed and levels are euthyroid you shouldn't feel ill. Euthyroid means low TSH, good FT4 and good FT3. TSH is low which is good, but gives no clue to FT4 and FT3.

B12, folate and ferritin are good. I don't know enough about cortisol and glucose to comment on your results.

Mandy72, without seeing FT4 and FT3 I can't tell whether your symptoms are thyroidal or other. Menopause can undoubtedly make you feel very unwell and it can be a double whammy when thyroid levels aren't optimal. Your GP can test hormone levels to see whether you are menopausal.

The range given for the 24 hour urinary cortisol test is plainly rubbish. If your cortisol was 0 or 1, would they say that was still normal or "in range"?

I suggest you order the saliva cortisol test from Genova UK or Blue Horizon. Instructions are on the main thyroid UK website.

What medication are you on?

Your FT4 and FT3 haven't been measured. It's possible, for example, that you have a conversion issue and your FT3 isn't high enough.

Finally - have you been properly tested for Lyme Disease? The NHS test is useless.

my 24 hour cortisol was all high 4 months ago

endo did the dex suppression test and 24 hour urine to rule out cushings

ive never had FT3 or FT4 tested as my last endo said they were of no use so looks like i may have to find the money to get my own done

never been tested for lymes..........would the dr check on NHS?

T3 only at moment trying to increase my dose but its making me worse so sticking to 40mcg at moment

Mandy the NHS test for Lyme Disease is notoriously useless. It often shows false negatives. You need the test from Igenex in the USA or Arminlabs in Germany. You may want to check out this very helpful group: facebook.com/LymeDiseaseUK/... There are also other infections which can cause serious inflammation resulting in thyroid dysfunction. PM me if you need more info. Jane x

My endo tried that! I said,'I'm cured, that means I don't have to take medication for the rest of my life' but the endo said I would have t take meds for the rest of my life. I said 'Then don't tell me I'm cured when I'm not!'
