Hi Queenofsh,
Yes, you can swing to hyper (a Hashi flare). It's caused by an increase in antibodies that attack the thyroid, causing it to 'dump' thyroid hormones into the blood stream.
I've just crashed from a hashi flare - My blood results in July were in the lower half of the range for both T3 and T4.
I happened to have my first ever Endo app in October at the height of my flare and my blood results were slightly over range for T4 and just under top the top of the range for T3.
I also had the symptoms of being hyper - increase heart rate, sensitive to warm temperatures etc but with a surprising amount of of energy!
Fortunately, I'd had an appointment with my GP the day before the Endo and I'd told him that I thought I was having a flare. He agreed and so I don't think he is going to reduce my meds, as suggested by the Endo!
