What are your blood results if on Armour + t3 or t3 only?

5 Replies

I would be interested in seeing these as a comparison. Also how are you feeling with these results?

Thanks

Don't get too tied up on blood test results. The most important fact is 'how we feel' on a particular dose or combination.

As far as I know the blood tests for our thyroid gland were introduced along with levothyroxine - T4 only. With Armour containing all of the hormones and liothyronine being T3 only they cannot be compared - my viewpoint.

That's an interesting viewpoint though Shaws.I hope to get my blood test results on Monday after being solely on Armour for 3 months and am feeling better than I have for years.If only I had known what I've learned here a good 15 years ago.

However,onward and upward and it will at least be interesting to see how things reflect in my readings.....TSH,FT4,FT3 + Vits D and B12

That's great that you are feeling so much better. Isn't it a wonderful feeling - at times you wonder if you'll ever improve.

Thank you Shaws......yes it is a good feeling......just a shame that it has come so late,as you cannot make up all those lost years once into the 70s.

It just makes me hope above all things that we can finally convince GPs that we are not just making a fuss about nothing.

It's high time they sat up and took notice of of their patients who know how debilitating hypothyroidism can be.

We simply must get earlier diagnosis and better choices of treatment or this will go on down through the generations.

#The Hoggle,

It's a bit hard to standardize levels of Ts if you are on an NDT/Armour because you are not supposed to take your meds just before your blood test. This pretty much guarantees that your T3 will be at minimum - if you were a good converter of T4 to T3 you probably wouldn't be on NDT. Your T3 spikes at about two hours after you have taken it but hits it's half life round about 4-8 hours after you have taken it, so by the time you take your blood test in the morning you may not have any at all.

But since you asked:

my FT4 = .8 (.8 - 1.8)ng/dL

FT3 = 2.9 (2.3 - 4.2)pg/mL

TT3 = 89 (76 - 181)ng/dL

rT3 = 13 (8 - 25) ng/dL

All minimal but I feel great (on Armour 1 1/2 grains). I think it has something to do with rT3 being quite low i.e. I am using what little I have very efficiently. But who knows, there's a lot going on.

(Oh, and I have no thyroid)
