Is your doc doing any further tests, Angela? It seems strange if she's just dismissing it - blood in urine needs to be investigated properly. I don't have it - but my dad has, and that's been an indication of an underlying infection. He was given antibiotics to keep it under control.

If I were you, I'd definitely pursue your doctor (or see another one?) for more tests to see what's going on.

Can be many reasons but a friend with blood in urine had bladder cancer so you really need the cause to be found. After a couple of operations he s now fine so keep positive.

Good point, Treepie - if it is something serious like that then the earlier it's caught the better so that they can do something about it.

But my money would still be on it being a urinary infection like my dad gets. Did the doc seem to want to see you urgently, Angela? If they didn't say it was urgent then I'm sure it will be a simple infection. I know when I've had urine samples done myself they've said something about white blood cells, but said it wasn't a problem.

If it is an infection it still needs sorting as soon as possible though. But do try not to worry (I know that's easier said than done). Please let us know how it goes. :-)

Hello Angela,

Sorry to hear you are suffering this. I too had blood in my urine for several months before medicating on thyroid hormone... ( No infection or UTI..)..

The link below explains the connection between the thyroid & kidneys.

I have not suffered this since being optimally medicated.

Do you have recent thyroid hormone test results that you can post complete with ranges (numbers in brackets). Link below for private testing if your doc is uncooperative in testing all thyroid hormones.
