I haven't found a study yet on the relationship between hypothyroidism and divorce, but it must be massive.

Hypothyroidism means that our whole system slows down, pulse, heart rate and metabolism. That's why people have severe fatigue, heart doesn't pump efficiently and low temp. Some also have brain fog because there's not sufficient T3 in the body. T3 is the active hormone required for our bodies to function normally. Levo should convert to sufficient if on a good dose.

Libido can be badly affected as the body doesn't have the energy until we have sufficient thyroid hormones circulating.

Have you had your prolactin levels checked?

I have a pituitary adenoma, which doesn't help the hormones. :'(

My libido has been terrible at times :( Taking adrenal support including DHEA made a big improvement, but not entirely sure that's in the right direction ;)

I have not noticed any improvement with libido. Sigh. Probably means I'm not in an ideal hormonal state which could be due to thyroid (I'm hypo) or my lupus (sle) or Sjogrens or perinenooause. Im going to look into adrenal support as mentioned above.

I'm sure that some people do get their libido back - I'm not one of them!

I really don't understand why we are expected by the Daily Mail to be gagging for sex up to the age of 80 anyway. Why can't we be allowed to decline gently, post menopause, into a passionate interest in delphiniums and agapanthus, like our grandmothers?

(And that is not code for anything else.)

It would be a good idea to ask to have your luteinizing hormones/follicle stimulating hormones checked. These are the pituitary hormones that stimulate your sex organs into producing oestrogen and testosterone. If you have hypothyroidism because your pituitary is failing to stimulate your thyroid, then you may have other pituitary deficits too. Loss of libido is terrible, v damaging to a relationship. I hope things are better now.

I have had a shocking libido for years now. I suspect it is linked to hypothyroid. I do have the usual body hang ups but that's not the primary reason for not fancying a bit of nookie. I just have no drive whatsoever. Nada. Zip. The thought of sex bores me, and the effect it has had on my marriage is nothing but negative. My husband is sometimes like a rabbit: every cuddle leads to something... Why does it have to? I think maybe if he were more sensitive to this disease and how it affects me may make me closer to him but he doesn't realise cuddles mean more right now. 😔 I've thought of trying that fembido but it's says it's no good for thyroid patients as its metabolism altering. Boo. Feel like sometimes I go through the motions And go along with it for the sake of a quiet life but I wish my heart were in it more. I'm only 36 and hoping my sexual prime will kick in soon😐 Hoping it's not just a myth for my marriages sake!
