Latest TSH 1.9, cholesterol 8.4 (which is quite normal for me), sorry I haven't ranges.
On 50 levo and I also quietly take one piggy pill, aka Nutrimeds Porcine because I think the body needs more than T4, probably.
Upping to two piggy pills while I wait to see the GP, but I plan to ask her if she will raise the Levo a bit to get the TSH down to 1 - maybe an extra 25 Levo every other day, or every three days.
If she won't, I'll take the extra piggy pills for six weeks then do a full Blue Horizon test, and re consider strategy based on that.
I have slightly more stamina, but still a shed load of symptoms, including having to sit down to unload the dishwasher, still driving with a handbrake on.
I'll retest the cholesterol when/if I feel better.
Is this a sane strategy? Sorry to impose on your time.
...I would also try not to worry about Cholesterol - it is something we need in our bodies - it is there for a reason. HDL and LDL are proteins that transport cholesterol to and fro the liver - so not good or bad cholesterol at all. Just something made up to attract our attention Also cholesterol is a chemical so cannot be good and bad !!
Thanks to Dr Malcolm Kendrick for explaining at the Thyroid conference last year.
I think doing the extra piggy pills is a sound strategy. I am assuming they claim there is no hormone in them..... If, after 6 weeks there is no improvement, you might need to source ndt or levothyroxine though.
Thanks Galathea. Reassuring words. I don't think they make any claims re hormone, but it's ground down thyroid like grandmama had back in the old days, so it clearly has some, and testing has shown this on similar products, just it will vary a bit from tab to tab depending on the poor pigs. I am very grateful to them.
Not so sure about that..... I think what grandma would have had would be dried thyroid gland with the hormones still in it..... what we now call NDT.
Xx
Thanks reallyfedup. I think I may be like your cohort - that's very helpful to know, that Levo didn't do it for them.
PS. The nutrients are all fine, thanks for reminding me. And raising them definitely helped, and particularly helped with memory - wish I knew which nutrient achieved this. B12 or iron I think.
