I hope they did a chest X-ray. Did they also do a blood test for your thyroid gland particularly Free T3?

It could be due to a sensitivity in the NDT fillers/binders as 5gr is a highish dose.

If you cannot convert the T4 in the NDT maybe you have a deficiency of T3 in your receptor cells.

No Shaws they didn't, they didn't have time I needed an emergency nebuliser, and what Dr described as a rescue pack (anti biopics and Prednisolone), I have a bad feeling that this may have come on due to experimenting with a different medication for a few days - do you think I could be right? x

It is a possibility. I would only take one step at a time as we are dealing with hormones and too much is as bad as too little.

You've had a frightening experience so I hope you recover quickly.

I've taken prednisolone twice. Once for a very short course while was tested for temporal arteritis and am on a 12 week course of it at the moment. First time I stopped as soon as the blood test results came back as negative. This time I started the highest dose I'll be taking (3 tablets) the first week and gradually cutting down by half a tablet every two weeks until I stop after Christmas because you aren't supposed to stop suddenly. I was a bit concerned last time but when I asked the doctor said I hadn't been on them long enough to worry about that. speak t your doctor and see what he/ she has to say.

Saying that, check out the points that Shaws has made s well.

Thankyou Fruitandnutcase, so I don't have anything to worry about on a short course, as I said to Marz I think it may be due to experimenting with a new medication for a few days, not sure if that would do it but i have a feeling it has xx

I've had several courses of Prednisolone for polyps in the last few years, each of 25mg for just 12 days (although I would tail it off by one 5mg tablest each day for the last 5 days) and never suffered any 'nasty' side effects at all. The problems tend to arise if you take it for far longer periods of time.
