My levo just been doubled to 50mg

after one month on 25mg.I spoke to my gp today and told her how very awful i feel,so much bone pain(like when you have real flu)joint pain which is new in my elbows.dizziness even when sitting down,shortness of breath even when i have done nothing,Never felt so ill in my life.Will i feel better on this dose and how soon.I have no results i can post to you.I am due to go and have a blood test in 2 weeks.Fingers crossed i start to feel a little human soon and have some energy.

I am sorry you are feeling so bad and do sympathise. A dose of 25mcg is a very low dose and a starting dose is normally 50mcg with 25mcg increments about every six weeks till your symptoms diminish and you feel much better.

For bloods tests for your thyroid gland make the earliest possible appointment and fast also (you can drink water). Leave about 24 hours between your last dose of levo and the blood test. Because doctors only judge the efficacy of the blood test on the TSH only, doing the above helps the TSH not to be lowers and maybe the GP reducing levo unnecessarily.

If you've not had vitamin B12, Vit D, iron, ferritin and folate tested ask for these as we are usually low.

Everything else was good at the last testing,my iron was very low just had 2nd infusion yesterday as the first had no effect at all.booked in to have the test at 8.55am.

Fairyeyes, it will take 7-10 days to absorb the increased dose before it will start working on improving symptoms and up to six weeks to feel the full impact of the dose.
