Genetic hasimoto
Hello Justbee,
Most genetic causes of hypothyroidism are apparent at birth or early infancy. Hashimoto's thyroiditis is the most common cause of hypothyroidism, and can be hereditary but can also develop in a variety of other ways.

If you research how Hashimotos or hyothyrodism affects sufferers, they're are many sites and research papers already available...Google it. Genetic factors are just one of many. Other factors are traumas, childbirth and others. There are many articles written on the likely causes.
What is important is when you are diagnosed with it you start to look into how you can control it and minimise the effects of this disease.
Good luck. :)) This site is a good way to start your journey of discovery.
I've had hypo for a number of years but recently in June told ive hashi but I went to endro last week an he mentioned I don't have a goiter so I think yours is genitic 😁
Have a look at the research paper Helvella has put a link to in a post after yours. There are many factors.
Thank you I didn't explain properly on my post I ment is there a diff between hasimoto with a goiter an genetic hashi but thanks for replying
Originally Dr Hashimoto looked at cases with goitre. And, to begin with and for many years, goitre was regared as an essential part of Hashimoto's. (There have been other names for the forms without goitre such as Ord's Thyroiditis.)
As time has passed, there has been increasing understanding that whether or not there is a goitre does not make much difference - the underlying disease processes are the same. Indeed, quite possibly lots of people pass through a period of having a goitre without it being noticed (at least by doctors).
So in the past couple of decades there has been a widespread tendency to label it Hashimoto's - with or without a goitre. However, for unclear reasons, medics in the UK seem to avoid that name and call it autoimmune thyroid disease or similar.
Thank you I'm just thinking about the past I always felt like I'd flu when I was younger plus I had hepatitis b when I was 19 just wondering any link . Thank you for reply
In my particular case its is genetic and environmental. :))
