All my healthy family members have FT3 levels of 6 or over..... interesting.

This may seem financially extravagant but as my tertiary hypothyroidism has cropped up in other members of my family I decided to see what the healthy family members thyroid bloods looked like....

I thought it was really interesting that they all, without exception came back with FT3 levels of 6 or 6.1 (3.1 - 6.8 Blue horizon)

Now I know that if my FT3 level is below 6 that I feel like death so 6 or just above seems to be the magic number.

I know we're all different but I did find it interesting to see just how high a healthy FT3 level is.

That is fascinating, mum. Do you need to take a high dose to achieve that?

Really interesting - thank you for posting. :-) Always good to have a benchmark when healthy - so you can see when and if things begin to change ....

Yes, interesting. Thank you for posting.

That is very interesting because I doubt any of us when healthy ever had a thyroid hormone test to compare our 'normal' with 'hypo).

Out of interest, what were their other levels?

in reply toScorchio

They had TSH's between 1 and 1.5 and their FT4's were midrange......high 15's, 16's and low 17's In a range of 12-22.

Don't have their exact figures with me right now but they are close enough.

As others have said, that's fascinating. It is a shame that no one ever thinks to test when they're well!

I encouraged my very healthy sister to have thyroid blood tests for this very reason.....

Thanks this is good to know as healthy people don't ask for thyroid tests. Did they get free t4 and tsh also?

My FT3 was 5.6 for years while on Norton and Goldshield Eltroxin. Since being changed 5 years ago it has only been 5.1 and is now down to 4.5 (3.1 - 6.8). Felt reasonably well at 5.6, but feel really bad now and cannot seem to raise FT3.

I think this is really interesting. I also like to find out base line levels and had tests to establish vits and minerals before taking supplements. I don't think my FT3 has ever been anywhere near 6, just over 4 is my level usually.

This is very interesting as my husband has just picked up annual blood test results from our surgery this morning ( not a thyroid patient) but as well as the usual full blood count ,fasting lipids etc ..there was a tick against TSH and T4 to be done.........

Guess what.....all results printed except thyroid ones!! Did they do them I ask myself ?

He is going to enquire about it.
