Hi, carbimazole shouldn't really cause a sore throat like that and your throat was sore before you were given the carb. Someone else will hopefully come along who has been taking carbimazole along with antibiotics.

Some people find that carb doesn't agree with their body and get something called agranulocytosis which does involve a sore throat, mouth ulcers and all sorts of nasties. You can read all about it on the patient information leaflet that comes with your carb or you can Google carbimazole and read all about it. The problems are caused by the carbimazole affecting your white blood count. If that happens it is very serious indeed and you have to stop the carb and have a blood test to check out your white blood cell count.

Hopefully your endo appointment won't be too long. When I was diagnosed the wait was about three months long but my endo ( whom I hadn't met at that point) kept a check on my blood results and increased my carb as necessary.

Post your blood test results on here along with their lab ranges ( that's the numbers in brackets next to them)

Hopefully once you get started on carb your symptoms will settle down.

When I first saw my endo I had had a blood test the week before so they knew the results before I got there. On my first visit I was weighed, had my blood pressure and height measured too but after that it was weight only.

I saw the endo who felt my neck and said I didn't have a goitre, also said my eyes were 'fine' - they weren't really, they were extremely dry, they hurt, they watered a lot, I had sort of double image too but because they didn't bulge I was told they were 'fine'!!!

I found all but one of my endo visits to be disappointing, I don't know what I was expecting but I only came out feeling really good and understood once although everyone I saw was polite and charming.

I felt that although they all asked how I was they weren't really all that interested - decisions had already been made based on my blood test results. So don't go expecting much and you won't be disappointed.

I used to keep a little notebook with all my test results and their ranges. I also write brief notes on how I felt plus any questions I wanted to ask. I kept how I felt etc brief - really just bullet points and I just read my points out. Sometimes I asked for my blood test results and wrote them down there and then other times I asked at my surgery and got them as print offs. My surgery didn't make a fuss about handing them over and never charged.

I used to keep an Evian fine misting spray beside the bed and reach out for it in the night to spray my legs etc to cool myself down, also kept a cold damp flannel by the bed to sponge my face and neck.

It's very hard feeling like you do, I was also seriously tired, the best thing to do is to give in and try to get as much rest as you can. I delegated as much as I could to my husband. I lost a massive amount of weight, I lost so much muscle tone that I couldn't get up without help if I got down on the ground.

Trouble was because I had lost so much weight if you ignored how gaunt I looked I actually looked better than I had done in years yet I felt so ill. So people might not realise how awful you are feeling which is annoying.

Hopefully you will finish your antibiotics soon and can get started on your Carbimazole and then start to feel a bit better. It takes time though even when you get going with the carb.

Hi, make sure your Dr and Endo consider subacute thyroiditis. It starts with a really painful sore throat (I was originally referred for a chest xray because I was coughing up blood) and follows with a period of hyperthyroidism before it flips to hypo.
