Yikes, I'm off to see private endo tomorrow in Solihull. Feeling nervous about it- hope it is a positive experience.....

I'm going to take blood test results with me, list of symptoms, anything else?

You could take all your test results in a little notebook - mark it out in headings for each test and its lab range. That way if you need to jot down your latest results it is easy. I think it also looks as if you are in control and want to be involved in any decisions being made.

I'd try to bullet point your main symptoms rather than go along with a massive list - even when I try that myself I have trouble! It is worth doing that though because I suspect there is probably a 'cut off point' in how much your endo wants to hear. Sounds awful but I just have that feeling.

If there is anything you have read that backs up what you want to happen print that off and keep it on your book - for example I have Graves and because RAI was Lways mentioned as the next step - I used to keep copies of evidence of where it was said that people could be on drug treatment for considerable periods of time, you could keep all that sort of thing in your notebook. You could put how you feel at certain times in there too - I used to keep notes on how I felt when my meds needed to be or were increased - when I felt good or bad etc.

I think having all that stuff to hand is good - like I said it shows you are taking an active interest in your treatment. I also think it's a good idea to stay calm and not cry or loose your temper if things don't seem to be going well.

I hate to say it but you might well come out feeling 'deflated' I'm afraid I did at most of my appointments, not because anyone had been unpleasant, just because nothing really happened. So don't be surprised if that happens, I think it's quite common. You can also take someone along with you for support - I never did but you can do that and a lot of people do. Good luck tomorrow, let us know how things go. 😊

Bluedragon, make a list of any medication and supplements you take. I hope the consultation is helpful.

Well, that was a complete waste of time! Nice man. Only goes by TSH levels. No interest in sex hormones etc. needs to go on naughty list....
